October Sister Trip
Well our sister trip is over and we hated to see it end. It was a great week with sister's, visiting, catching up and our usual other vices..LOL. We started the trip picking Linda up in Detroit and heading to Erie Pa., where we spent the night and went to an Otters game. Devin was in net and we won, so it was well worth the trip. On Sunday we headed to Lexington, KY, where we went to the Horse Park. It was fabulous and we saw horses we didn't even know were breeds. We took all backroads from Erie to Cindy's and saw some of the most beautiful countryside, it is truly amazing how beautiful our country is and how much you miss when flying. At Cindy's we toured the Corvette plant.......I WANT ONE!.......went to lunch with Cindy's girlfriend, shopped, watched movies and on our last day went hiking by some caves. It was a fabulous walk with beautiful scenery. We then went to Jackson's Orchard with the top down on Cindy's mustang, singing at the top of our lungs (Your never too old to go topless.....LOL). We followed that with a cruise around Bowling Green and an ice cream. It was a fabulous day, a fabulous week and I love my sisters so very much. We never fail to have a great time and can't wait for the next one now.
Update..........
Since we have not updated our sister blog since the family reunion, I will fill you in on this year. In January we flew to Calif. where we visited with Kathy and Jeff in their new Kathnashian cottage. We had a wonderful time, singing Karaeoke, drinking wine and just taking in the spectacular view from their deck. We then drove to the LA airport where we picked up sister Cindy and went to Santa Barbara, where we spent the next several days. What a beautiful view from the backyard and a great beach house, we had such a great time, visiting and walking the beach, where we found all kinds of sea glass. Its always so wonderful when we all get together, seems we never run out of things to talk about.

Sister Update.....
Well it has been over a year since our sister blog was updated so I figured I would add to it in order to keep it going. Some news to report, sister Linda is no longer living in Napa, they sold the vineyard and now live on the ocean in Santa Barbara. We had our bi-annual family reunion in Leland this past August and had a fabulous time as usual. Cindys kids were able to come this time, though unfortunatley Linda's were not and we missed those who were not there. Life goes on and we grow older, but still love and cherish the times we can spend together. We are going on a sister trip in January to Santa Barbara to spend time together and catch up on our lives.

Just An Update
Well sisters I was tired of looking at the same old post and nothings been added since last November, so I thought I would post something new. Our sister trip commences on Friday when Rose and I leave MI to meet Linda and Cindy in Indiana. We will be staying at the Crown Plaza Friday night and then on to our "rustic" cabin somewhere between Indianapolis and Dayton, Ohio. We have to provide all of our own linens, utensils, etc. and we are hoping the cabin is not under water, given all the rain in that area. We will be staying there from Sat. through Wednesday, "roughing" it; however, we will be together and that is the ultimate purpose. We will be photographing, exploring and just kicking back and enjoying each others company....we will make up for lost time. Everyone is so busy that we dont get to spend alot of time together so hopefully this will catch us all up. Safe travels to all of us and see you in a few days.

A California Visit

Well Clarence, Devin and I went to San Jose for a hockey tournament in October and got to spend some much needed quality time with family. Peter and Linda were with us the whole five days, while Erik, Kayla and Emma were able to spend two days. It was so much fun being with all of you and you finally got to see Devin play hockey. We had such a good time and spent all day Friday in San Francisco. We got to eat in Chinatown, spend time on Fisherman's wharf and ride the ferry around Alcatraz with a narration of it all. I learned things I didnt know about San Fran and we got to see the places we grew up in, like Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts, where we walked to school. It was very enjoyable and Peter was a great tour guide. It was an exhausting day but well worth all the up and down walking we did, and of course those much needed glasses of wine at the end of each day. On our last day, Peter took Clarence and I to Santa Cruz, we walked the pier and then saw some Redwood Forests. It was so nice being with my sister, I have missed you all.

My first big painting

Hello sisters...Since you guys aren't on Facebook to show you, I posted it here. This is my first "Big" painting and I wanted to show you. I think I'm done, will have to stare at it a little more. When I get close to getting done, I'm afraid to keep going because I'm afraid of messing it up....plus I'm trying to learn to be done. What I mean is, I keep going trying to tweek it and then end up messing it up. So anyway, this is a 2' x 4' canvas. What do you think? Ideas and comments are welcome. May not do it to this one, but will have them for the next one. Love Cindy

Another monday!
Well, its Monday again and I dont know how it happened! Time is traveling way too fast to suit me. I am painting walls today as we had some plaster work done and it needs to be primed so thats what I have done...now waiting for it to dry. Then will add a bit of paint to finish the job. Have not been able to finish our bathroom yet as we keep running off and having fun or Larry is so swamped with work that he cant get to it. He is supposed to be retired but you would not know it by the time he spends out in the shop! But again, its economic hard times and we lost so much with the crash that we need to work awhile longer. Somehow we will make things work.
Our place here is beginning to get too big for us to keep up. I see ourselves pooping out at all the work this place requires. So in a year or two we will put this place up for sale, sell some stuff, put in storage the rest and take off for 6 mo. or a year of travel. Then come back and probably resettle nearer to Christy and Sean. It will be hard because we are so settled here with so many friends that we will miss terribly but we will make new ones. We will have time to think about it as we hit the roadways!!! Moving will be monumental after this many years of aquiring "stuff" so I dread that but leaving this house will not affect me as deeply as it will Larry.
Our health is okay and we keep busy. Our life is small but good. I will sign off now and wish everyone a good week. We are going camping/fishing again on thursday...yayee!!
Love, Rose

My "D" pictures

Hello my sisters. Sorry I'm so late with my pictures Esther. Have had a rough time withdrawing from my anti-depression medicine. Been feeling better the last few days so I took these. Lets see if you can guess them. They aren't hard and I used my phone camera, but at least I took some. Will do better for August and the "E's". Remember to guess before you look at what others thought it was. Love Cindy

D pictures

Well since I seem to be the only one posting pictures I thought I would post my "D" pictures. Had trouble finding ones that would be hard to guess so went with these three. Remember to guess first. Esther
Rochester, NY

Rose and I took a trip to Rochester, NY to deliver Devin to his hockey showcase. We drove through Canada to Buffalo and on to Rochester. Rose got to see how the level of hockey has changed, the speed is incredible and the kids are taller than most adults we know. Devin is doing well and Rose got to see him get a shutout, having to kill off eight minutes of penalties including a five minute major, which tied the game. We then went into a shootout and won because Devin only allowed one goal while the other goalie allowed three. We had a good time and went on a two hour riverboat lunch cruise down the Erie Canal. Very informative and we had great weather, it was great. We finally made it home on Sunday after waiting two hours to cross the border back into Michigan.

The campers return!
Well, we got home yesterday from beautiful Charlevoix and it was spectacular!! We had our daughter and grandchildren all to ourselves and relaxed the whole weekend! We ate campy food, homemade pies and sat around the campfire every nite! We spent the day on a beach as beautiful as any Bahama beach, lazed in the sun and swam in clear waters as waves rolled in due to an occasional passing boat. We hated coming back to the camper! We walked downtown, had lunch in an expensive diner that we wont visit again and crossed a river on a car barge to get to another local town. Kids loved that! We had a wonderful time and I hope we can do it again sooner than later! Today its back to the real world of washing clothes, cleaning the camper out, cleaning house cause Uncle Bobblehead is coming to stay for a couple days after his neck surgery. I am leaving with Esther for Buffalo, NY to deliver Devin for hockey camp on thursday. Will be gone 4 days so need to clean house soon. Life is good...we are happy. I love my family!

A lazy day!
Hello my sisters,
I finally had Cindy help me with this blogger account and we got it straightened out and here I am. Its a sunny day and I was up in my studio for a couple hours making birthday cards for my son-in-law and my Logan...their birthdays are this month. I have been making all my b-day cards and find it relaxing and comforting. Things are fine here...we are busy as I am sure everyone is. Tomorrow we head up to Gladwin to spend Sunday afternoon with our good friends, the Priems, which I always enjoy. We are all planning a Sept. group friends camp out and need to check out a new campgrounds. I have been working at the soup kitchen a lot lately but certainly do not mind as I love doing it. I get the kids in two weeks so want to plan something fun. Next week I am chaparoning a field trip for Logan and going to Nates school to get him for Honors meeting. The kids are anxious to be done with school. In three weeks Christy and I go to Shipshewana, Ind. for a mother/daughter overnite. I am really looking forward to that as she and I have such fun together. Hope your days are filled with wonderous things and that you are all happy. I miss and love you each one!
kisses,
Rose

Mississippi trip pictures

I thought I would post a few of the pictures here since we aren't all on facebook. It was a nice trip and the only thing that would have made it better is if you could have been with us too Esther. I have realized that I took all my pictures of scenery and Gene, so I hope someone else snapped some of the family! Enjoy the ones I took. Love Cindy
